The Bureau of Treasury invites Overseas Filipinos to a Financial Literacy Session on Retail Treasury Bonds (RTBs).
RTBs are debt securities issued by the Philippine government through the Bureau of Treasury and form part of a program to make government securities available to retail investors, especially private individuals.

Consul General Gunther Sales attended the Annual Gala of the Filipino American Council of Texas (FACT) on 29 August 2026 at the Philippine Community Center in Houston.
Speaking on the theme of bridging Filipino
heritage with impactful leadership and civic service in Texas, Consul General Sales noted that Filipino Americans born in the Philippines naturally brought their connection to the homeland with them. For their children and grandchildren, born and raised in the United States, that connection is not always automatic. It has to be built rather than assumed, and he said the Consulate intends to take on its share of that important work alongside the community.
Administering the oath of office to the incoming officers of FACT for 2026-2027 under Chairman Jonathan Gecomo, he urged the new leadership to encourage young Filipino Americans to also actively participate in the community’s activities. He likewise presented the Leadership Hall of Fame Award to Attorney Lope Goodwin Lindio, and to Gina Shankar, PhD, RN, and welcomed three organizations into lifetime membership in the council, namely the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Texas, the Houston Cypress Performing Lions, and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Houston Division.
Established in 1993, FACT serves as an umbrella association of various Filipino community organizations in Texas. The Consulate values its partnership with the council and looks forward to continued cooperation under its incoming leadership, following the term of outgoing Chairman Gilda Genova.

The Philippine Consulate is closely monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone Five, forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Edouard and make landfall near the Texas-Louisiana border on Tuesday, 1 September.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Port Bolivar, TX to Vermilion/Cameron Parish, LA. Kababayans in Southwest Louisiana and the Upper Texas Coast, including Houston, should prepare for heavy rain, flooding, and possible power outages.

Kababayans who wish to apply for and/or renew their passports, including those who signed up through the Google Form, are encouraged to secure their appointment slots through passport.gov.ph and choose “PCG Houston - Outreach in Lubbock, Texas” or “PCG Houston - Outreach in Albuquerque, New Mexico” as appropriate.
Those requiring other consular services (dual citizenship, notary, and civil registry) are advised to send copies of their requirements to houstonpcg.outreach@gmail.com for prior assessment and further guidance.
